कस्तूरी मृग - इस दुर्लभ पशु की नाभि से बहती है सुगंधित धारा

अब तक हिरणों की 60 से भी अधिक किस्मों का अध्ययन किया जा चुका है। इन किस्मों में एक ऐसा भी हिरण होता है, जिससे कस्तूरी प्राप्त की जाती है। इसे कस्तूरी मृग (Musk Deer) कहते है। यह मोशिडे परिवार का प्राणी है। कस्तूरी मृग एकांत में रहने वाला बहुत ही सीधा और छोटा सा जानवर होता है। 

उत्तराखंड का राज्य वन्य पशु 

दुर्लभ वन्य जीव प्रजाति 'कस्तुरी मृग' उत्तराखंड का राज्य वन्य पशु है। जिसकी गिनती जंगल के खूबसूरत जीवों में होती है। कस्तुरी मृग को 'हिमायलन मस्क डियर' के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। वैसे इसका वैज्ञानिक नाम 'मास्कस क्राइसोगौ' है। बताया जाता है कि यह मृग सामान्य मृगों की तुलना में कहीं ज्यादा आदिम है। कस्तुरी मृग मोशिडे परिवार का है, जिसकी मुख्यत : 4 प्रजातियां हैं।

इनके कान बड़े होते हैं, लेकिन पूंछ बहुत ही छोटी होती है। इनके सिर पर 10 मृगों की भांति सींग नहीं होते, इनका रंग भूरा कत्थई होता है। कस्तूरी मृग की ऊंचाई 50 से 60 सेंटीमीटर (20-24 इंच) तक होती है।

नर मृग के पेट में कस्तूरी पैदा करने वाला अंग होता है. नर हिरण के दांत बाहर निकले होते हैं । जो नीचे की ओर झुके होते हैं।

नाभि से निकलती है सुंगधित धारा 

अपनी आकर्षक खूबसूरती के साथ यह जीव नाभि से निकलने वाली अप्रतिम खुशबू के लिए मुख्य रूप से जाना जाता है। जो इस मृग को सबसे बड़ी खासियत है। इस मृग की नाभि में गाढ़ा तरल (कस्तूरी) होता है जिसमें से मनमोहक खुशबू की धारा बहती है। बता दें कि कस्तूरी केवल नर मृगों में ही पाया जाता है। यह जीव उत्तराखंड के अलावा अन्य हिमालयी क्षेत्रों (हिमाचल प्रदेश, कश्मीर, सिक्किम) में भी पाया जाता है।

कस्तूरी एक ऐसा पदार्थ है, जिसमें तीखी गंध होती है। कस्तूरी मृग के पेट की त्वचा के नीचे नाभि के पास एक छोटा सा थैला होता है, जिसमें कस्तूरी का निर्माण होता रहता है। ताजी कस्तूरी गाढ़े द्रव के रूप में होती है, लेकिन सूखने पर दानेदार चूर्ण के रूप में बदल जाती है। कस्तूरी का प्रयोग उत्तम प्रकार के साबुन और इत्र बनाने में प्रयोग किया जाता है, क्योकिं इसकी सुगंध बड़ी ही मनोरम होती है।

नहीं छोड़ता अपना निवासस्थान 

इस जीव की एक खास बात यह भी है कि यह अपना निवास स्थान सर्द मौसम में भी नहीं छोड़ता। भले ही यह जीव भोजन की तलाश में दूर निकल जाए पर लौट कर अपने आश्रय में ही आराम करता है। इस जीव की याददाश्त शक्ति काफी मजबूत बताई जाती है, जिस वजह से यह अपना रास्ता कभी नहीं भूलता । इसके अलावा यह मृग काफी शर्मीली प्रवृति का जानवर है। कस्तूरी मृग की घ्राण शक्ति (सूंघने की क्षमता) बहुत तेज होती है।

इस खास जीव के लिए आरक्षित किए गए वन्य क्षेत्र

अस्कोट वन्य जीव अभयारण्य (मस्क डियर) 

अस्कोट वन्य जीव अभयारण्य उत्तराखंड के पिथौरागढ़ से करीब 54 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित है। यह वन्य अभयारण्य मुख्यत: कस्तूरी मृग के लिए आरक्षित किया गया है, जिससे कि इस दुर्लभ प्रजाति को बचाया जा सके।

केदारनाथ वन्य जीव अभयारण्य 

लगभग 967 वर्ग किमी के क्षेत्र में फैला केदारनाथ वन्य जीव अभयारण्य उत्तराखंड के चमोली जिले में स्थित है। हिमालयी वन्य जीव सुरक्षा के लिए इस अभयारण्य की स्थापना 1972 में की गई थी। यह अभयारण्य राज्य के सबसे पवित्र क्षेत्र में बसाया गया है।

कंचुला कोरक कस्तूरी मृग अभयारण्य 

कांचुला काकोर मस्क हिरण अभयारण्य उत्तराखंड के चोपता-गोपेश्वर मार्ग पर स्थित है। 5 वर्ग किमी के क्षेत्र में फैला यह अभयारण्य हिमालयी वन्य जीवों के लिए आरक्षित है, जहां आप खूबसूरत कस्तूरी मृग को भी देख सकते हैं। यह वन्य क्षेत्र कस्तूरी मृग के प्रजनन विकास के लिए भी जाना जाता है। जिससे ये अपनी आबादी बढ़ा सकें।

Jellyfish and Sea Jellies are the informal common names given to the Medusa-Phase of Certain Gelatinous Members of the Subphylum Medusozoa, a Major Part of the Phylum Cnidaria. 

Jellyfish are mainly Free-Swimming Marine Animals with Umbrella-Shaped Bells and Trailing Tentacles, although a few are Anchored to the Seabed by Stalks rather than being Mobile. The Bell can pulsate to provide propulsion for Highly Efficient Locomotion. 

The Tentacles are armed with Stinging Cells and may be used to capture Prey and defend against Predators. Jellyfish have a complex life cycle. The Medusa is normally the sexual phase, which produces Planula Larva that disperse widely and enter a sedentary Polyp Phase before reaching Sexual Maturity.

Hokkaido, The Large Island at Japan’s northern end, is home to populations of Adorable Little Critters that can’t be found anywhere else in Japan. There are 7 Cute Little Critters in particular that you will absolutely fall in love with!

The Adorable Ezo Momonga is a type of Flying Squirrel unique to Hokkaido. Its huge, dark eyes and little paws are so cute that it has become a Local Mascot of sorts, appearing on the regional railway’s refillable ticket cards.

Shima-Enaga

The Shima-Enaga is a type of Long-Tailed Tit that lives only in Hokkaido. Unlike the Northern long-tailed tits in the rest of Japan, this one doesn’t have brown “eyebrows” – its face is completely white.

Hokkaido Red Squirrel

The Eurasian Red Squirrel is spread far and wide throughout Asia and Europe, but Hokkaido has its own subspecies and is the only place in Japan where these squirrels can be found.

Ezo Naki Usagi

The Hokkaido Crying Rabbit or Ezo Naki Usagi, is a local subspecies of the Northern Pika, an Adorable Critter that lives throughout Northern Japan and Northern Asia. It is said that this Adorable Critter was the inspiration for Pikachu, possibly everyone’s favorite Pokemon.

Iizuna

The Iizuna or Least Weasel, belongs to a sub-species that prefers the northern climates of Hokkaido, Siberia and Northern Scandinavia. Unlike other least weasels, this subspecies’ coat turns white to camouflage it in the winter.

Ezo Fukuro

The Ezo Fukuro is a local sub-species of the Ural Owl. Unfortunately, these guys probably love to feed on some of the other cute and tasty animals in this post!

New Mysterious Tarantula-Like Spider Identified

 An Elusive Spider related to the Tarantula just joined the ranks of Recognized Spiders.

The Pine Rockland Trapdoor Spider lives in the Florida Everglades and it's A Rare Breed. 

It has only been spotted a handful of times since the 1920s and only recently did the clever Arachnid get its name for the habitat it lives in, according to Rebecca Godwin, an assistant professor of biology at Piedmont University.

These Spiders likely only live in the Pine Rockland Habitat of Southern Florida, which is "Highly Threatened," Godwin told CNN. Their Homeland of Pines growing on Limestone Outcrops has slowly been destroyed by Mankind.

"Development, Urbanization, Land Clearing, anything that Destroys the Topsoil could potentially wipe out Whole Populations and especially for a Spider that occurs in A Small Range of really threatened habitat, you kind of risk losing the Species all together," Godwin said.

The Spider is One of 33 New Species from the Americas to be added to the genus Ummidia, which are Trapdoor Spiders. Godwin and Jason E. Bond, an entomology professor from University of California, Davis, co-authored the study, published in April in the journal ZooKeys.

"The fact that A New Species like this could be found in a Fragment of Endangered Forest in the middle of the city underscores the importance of preserving these ecosystems before we lose not only what we know, but also what is still to be discovered," Frank Ridgley, Zoo Miami Conservation & Veterinary Services Manager, said in a news release.

Snowy Egret Is A Beautiful Bird

 The Snowy Egret (Egretta Thula) is a small white Heron. It is the American counterpart to the very similar Old World Little Egret, which has established a foothold in the Bahamas.

Adults are typically 61 centimetres (24 in) long and weigh 375 grams (13.2 oz)

They have a slim black bill and long black legs with yellow feet. The area of the upper bill, in front of the eyes, is yellow but turns red during the breeding season, when the adults also gain recurved plumes on the back, making for a "shaggy" effect.

The juvenile looks similar to the adult, but the base of the bill is paler, and a green or yellow line runs down the back of the legs.
